I. INTRODUCTION:
A. Real Men Don't Eat Quiche (Bruce Feirstein) is the title of a book published in
1982 contains facetious rules & guidelines about what it takes to be a "real man."

B. The Bible tells us what it means to be a real man (2 Tim.3:16-17)
1. Father's Day is a good time to study this.

II. A REAL MAN:
A. Leads the family (Eph.5:23)
1. Recognizes his head is Christ (1 Cor.11:3; Col.3:17)
2. Leads the family in righteousness (l Cor.14:35)
3. Sees to their provisions/security (l Tim.5:8)

B. Loves his wife (Eph.5:25, 28-29)
1. Gives her proper honor (l Pet.3:7)
2. Do not be bitter toward her (Col.3:19)
3. Recognizes trouble spots - 5 questions that cover five main problems in
marriage:
a. Who controls the money in your marriage? (money)
b. Who and what are you in your marriage? (role)
c. What do you spend most of your spare time doing? (time)
d. Does your mate really understand you? (communication)
e. Is marital intimacy truly fulfilling you both? (sex)
4. If there are problems does the husband "love" the wife without seeking
solutions?

C. Spiritually trains his children (Eph.6:4; Col.3:21)
1. Now, who is given the responsibility for the proper spiritual training of
children??
2. The failure of Israel was placed upon the fathers (2 Kings 17:14-15;
Psm.78:5-8)
3. The church is destitute for men of this caliber (l Tim.3:4-5)
D. Bible examples of real men:
1. Noah - saved his family (l Pet.3:20)
2. Abraham - listened to God's instruction for his family (Gen.21:8-14)
a. Husbands would do well to "listen to her (wife) voice."
3. Joseph - loved Mary, did not want to shame her (Matt.1:19, 24-25)
a. Then moved to Egypt to protect his family (Matt.2:13-14, 19-23)
1) A lot of trouble over a son that wasn't "his."
4. Cornelius - "feared God with all his household" (Acts 10:1-2, 33)

III. CONCLUSION:
A. Real men are godly men - men who lead their family in the paths of righteousness
by both a proper example and overt teaching.
